Q: "Are there selling points to so-called 'green' apparel, beyond the fact that it's eco-friendly?"
A: The short answer is: Of course. No doubt some of your buyers have sought eco apparel for April Earth Day events. However, there are advantages beyond the environment that make eco-friendly garments a good choice any time of year. Here are five points to help you pocket more "green" when selling green apparel:
- Absorbent and airy: Bamboo, hemp and organic cotton fabrics breathe, helping the body to cool naturally. These fabrics also absorb moisture and wick away perspiration from the body. Quite simply, they're nature's performance fabrication.
- Hypoallergenic: Because organic fabrics are made from crops without the use of chemicals, they're better for babies, children and adults with sensitive skin. Some eco-friendly fabrics (such as bamboo and hemp) even deter bacterial growth.
- Soft hand: Organic cottons and silky bamboo fabrications are extremely soft and pleasant to wear. Hemp gains a lovely hand after several washings, much like a well-loved linen.
- Sun protection: Some eco-friendly fabrics like those made of bamboo and hemp are naturally UV-resistant.
Strength: Consider the durability and tensile strength of hemp, which has been used in rope and ship sails to withstand wear and the elements.

If you want something to last a lifetime, put it on a Richardson hat. Whether it’s a company logo or your favorite team’s mascot you want to immortalize, a combination of skilled hat-maker hands and our top-of-the-line embroidery machines can provide high-quality customized hats for you, your company or your sports team.
Burbank Embroidery has five main reasons for choosing Richardson hats. These are: quality, cutting edge fashion, usefulness, appeal and the company’s social responsibility.
• They are durable.
Richardson hats are made of fabrics that are resilient to easy wear-and-tear. Some of these are nylon, wool and cotton twill. Also, their most popular products, the baseball caps, have buckram-fused panels that provide structure and multiple stitches to prevent unraveling. This careful attention to details certainly puts Richardson hats at an advantage over other brands.
• They are low-maintenance.
You don’t have to visit the cleaners all the time. A Richardson hat gets better the longer you wear it and can easily get by with a damp cloth and some detergent. This is because the sweatband has its own moisture management system that’s designed to absorb sweat more than double its own weight. The embroidery will benefit with a little spot cleaning every once in a while, too.
• They are useful.
Some hats are made for baseball team players while others are designed specifically for sports officials. Others, particularly the open-weave, lined straw hats made of breathable seagrass or toyo straw, provide sun protection while hunting, fishing, sailing or golfing. Still, others are versatile enough to fit in all occasions and are best as customized gifts, promotional items for your company or as a handy accessory on a casual day out.
• They are eco-friendly.
Looking for a high-quality hat that’s made without causing harm to Mother Nature? Richardson’s Eco10 hat fits the bill perfectly, plus it is low-profile and comfortable. The hat is made of garment-washed 100% certified organic cotton to make it feel soft and snug and has adjustable cloth straps to ensure that the hat sits securely but not too tightly around your head.
• They are fashionable.
Richardson hats do not sacrifice comfort for style, and vice versa. Plus, custom embroidery lets you add your own personal touch.
There are numerous reasons to have your company logo embroidered!
Nearly every piece of clothing can have your company logo embroidered on it. Everywhere you go, clothing is decorated with a picture, a logo, a humorous statement or an advertisement. Designs either inspire thoughts of art, emotion, to remember a product, company or tell a tale.
Sporting Events or Fund Raisers
If your company sponsors an event, there is no better way to advertise your name than the use of custom embroidery to make your company noticed and long be remembered. For fund raising events involving sports, such as golf tournaments or marathons, there are numerous pieces that can be employed with your logo.
If your employees are part of a league, the team and its company will be better remembered by the spectators if the team wears uniform shirts with the company logo and mission on it, or perhaps some of the products sold. This is a wonderful way to have great visibility for your company. And, clothes last for years. Even long after the season or the special event, the company will enjoy free advertizement in the public eye. If custom embroidery, as opposed to screen printing, is employed on the garments, then the logo and message will be in great condition for years to come.
Trade Shows
If you have ever attended a trade show either as the host or a vendor, you will well remember the free gifts in the registration bags. Various designs and numerous types of clothing can be used for giving out as thank-you gifts for the attendees taking the time to stop by your booth, or to encourage them to do so. Giving a baseball cap, a tee shirt or a cloth key ring with the logo and contact information of your company goes a long way. As silly as it sounds, many people acquire first impressions from what they find in these grab bags. The better looking the logo, the better impression of quality the receiving individual has of your company.
Company Holiday Gifts For Employees
Little gifts given around the holidays to employees show a sense of appreciation and are welcomed by the staff. Custom embroidery is not limited to clothing. It can be added to hand bags, backpacks and a myriad other items. If you choose a well-made, good quality laptop bag to give to employees, you can rest assured that it will be seen for years to come in numerous settings.
When most people think of custom embroidery, they tend to think about putting a corporate logo on a polo shirt, or embroidering a small business crew's work hats. However, embroidery goes well beyond shirts and hats.
While every pet wears a collar, more and more pet owners have started buying coats, shirts and sweaters for their loving companions. While it is possible to get these items in a myriad of different colors and materials, it is typically hard to really make them unique to each pet. One great way to turn a run of the mill puppy jacket into a one of a kind piece for a beloved dog or cat is to add their own personalized logo. Since most of these items are made of fabric, they are an excellent medium for embroidering.

Custom embroidery is infinitely customizable. High quality embroidery thread is available in every color of the rainbow, making it possible to embroider your kitty's design to match the hue of her eyes or the stripe on her tail. Most embroidery systems offer a vast range of fonts and styles, letting the designer embroider on the largest and smallest piece of petware to match a pet's, or their owner's, personality. A great example of this might be putting a Union Jack on a British Bulldog's jacket.
Pet owners tend to always look for ways to let their dogs and cats know how much they love them. Putting a personal touch to their shirts, jackets, or even beds (as seen above!) through custom embroidery is a great way to do it.
The only type of embroidery machines we use at Burbank Embroidery Inc are Barudans. We have been in business for over twenty years, and after using many different brands have switched out all of our machines to the new Barudan. Many embroidery companies tend to keep their embroidery machines past their prime due to their high cost. We look at things differently. We currently have 25 embroidery heads (1 12-head, 2 6-heads, and a C01 single head). Although many brands have improved over the years, I believe Barudan gives us the best embroidery quality, low maintenance, and the highest efficiency in the industry!

Some of the advantages that Barudan brings are ...
- Double heighth hoops to enable thick garments to be hooped without falling during sewing and to improve registration with all garments.
- Large sewing fields: about 17.5"x20.5".
- 15 needles per head enabeling logos to have up to 15 different colors.
- Very powerful servo motors and main motor for more accurate embroidery detail and the ability to sew through most thick material without problems.
- Heavy duty support arms. Much stronger than the competition, again adding to improve small detail.
- Overall I think Barudan Embroidery Machines are built like tanks!
Thanks Barudan!

To the general public the embroidery process may seem confusing. However, there are only a few simple steps to follow.

1. The first step is to submit your artwork to receive a quote and estimate of sewing costs. This is done by going to the digitizing page on our website and sending in your file. The files we accept are hi-resolution 300 dpi or higher (Jpeg, BMP, GIF, TIF) or Vector art (AI, PSD, PING, EPS, PDF).
2. If you accept the quote and give the go ahead to proceed, your logo is then digitized, a sample is sewn, scanned and emailed to you for approval.
3. What do you want to embroider? First, go to our garment catalog which offers hundreds of types of shirts, hats, jackets, bags and just about anything else you can imagine. If you can't find what you need here, feel free to call our Sales Manager, Kerri, for assistance with our MANY other suppliers. Or, if you're in the neighborhood, stop on by and check out the samples on display in our showroom.
4. Once you've made your selection we will order in your product and send to production to be processed.
5. After your sewing is complete your order will be fully inspected, packed and ready for pick-up or shipping anywhere in the US.
That's it! The Machine Embroidery Process!
